Best learn to play the guitar book and easy to understand?

Best learn to play the guitar book and easy to understand? I’ve gone way past the beginner stuff, and can’t find any more free stuff online. I’m looking for a book that is mainly about improvising.
My inspiration is matthew bellamy from muse if that helps…

Have a look at the MelBay web site. There is a great selection and some pretty good guidance.

play guitar app
Does any body know the best free app on i pod touch/ iphone for learning to play the guitar?

I want to have a free app on my itouch for learning to play guitar

Well there isn’t a great free app for this. There is pocket guitar for .99 (near free?) and there is youtube where you can watch thousands of guitar instructional videos.

Pocket guitar is about as close to free as you are going to get, but youtube really is free!

Good Luck.

learn to play guitar software free
Where can I find some good free Guitar Tab software?

Im just starting out on the guitar and everyone is telling me to learn how to play tabs on the guitar. I have looked at them and can play them a little bit but someone told me that there is software that will help you to learn. Anyone know where I can find it or what it is?

Hello there,

I don’t know about the software, but I can give you some other instructional material.

First here is a link to a video lesson at Youtube. This guy has a series of 12 lessons there. He covers the basics very well. You can learn a lot from him.

Here is a link to an article about how to read tabs.

Lastly, here is a link to a chord chart. This is handy if you need to look up how to finger a chord.

play guitar pro files

play guitar pro files
My headphones can’t play mp3 and wav files. But Guitar pro softwares work. What should I do?

I was about to play my playlist in my computer when I found out that no sound was coming from my headphones! Windows Media Player works though.

When I tried running some of my Guitar Pro software files, they can be heard from my hedaphones!!! As in they sound perfectly!!! Why?!?!?!

But when I tried playing games from miniclip.com, no sound still comes out of my headphones. THe settings were not muted, but my headphones still dont;t work.

Here’s a summary:

Mp3 and wavs: Doesn’t work
Guitar Pro: Works
Game Sounds from Internet: Doesn’t Work

What should I do? Please help me.. As soon as possible.. THanx!!!

Go to Start/Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices and when the Properties window box opens up, then click on the Advanced button under the Volume Tab and this will open the Master Volume box. Look at the column under the Wave heading and make sure to UN-CHECK the Mute box and slide the Volume slider to the top for max volume. Then X out of all open windows and try one of the files that were not working before - hopefully this will have fixed your problem. If, when you open this box the Wave Mute checkbox already is unchecked and the volume slider is at the top then the problem lies elsewhere. If you would like to email me at blc1610 at yahoo dot com, I will try to help you further, just be sure and identify yourself and your question so I won’t delete it as junk mail.

learn to play guitar notes
what is a good book to learn to play guitar?

i want to learn guitar so bad….but i can’t read notes

i took 4th grade violin lessons for a year but they only taught us with letters

whats a good book to learn to read notes, tune a guitar and play?

Your best option to learn to play guitar, learn basic music theory, and play by notation is by getting Hal Leonard’s Beginner Guitar Method Book One at your local music store. It costs about $6.50, and with a CD, about $7.50.

Also, pick up a chord book that lists at least 2,500 chords and their accompanying music notation written chords.

how to play guitar pro files
can ANYONE play the guitar part from the song “creepin’ in” by norah jones?

I am searching for tabs the past 2 weeks and I just can’t get the solo done. It’s freaking me out!
Please! if someone knows how to play it could you give me the tabs or make a guitar-pro file or something?
thanks allot!
I have searched through lots of pages, even sent email to different web pages that offer tabs. I didn’t find it tabbed on paper, in powertab, in guitar pro tabs or whatever…
I need a link to a page that has correct tabs OR someone to create a tab for me… I know its allot of work but I REALLY can’t find it. I use tabbing programs for ages but this song seems to be nowhere!

thanks allot!

Download Powertab Editor…it’s free and a google search will turn it up easily. Then, just go to a tab site, I prefer www.ultimate-guitar.com and download any ‘powertab’ versions of songs you want. (unfortunately this site doesn’t have creepin’ in…but look around, it’s gotta be somewhere.)

It’ll play the song for you, while you watch it on the tablature on-screen. Immensely valuable tool.

tips to play guitar faster

tips to play guitar faster
any tips on how to play guitar faster

hey i have been playing for a few years now and i learned a few solos but cant play then fast enough please tell me some tips

Choose some solos to learn that you think that you’ll be able to play easily enough and then work on them carefully. Since you’re still relatively new at the guitar, you’ll want to take a closer look at your technique. If you’re anything like me, you’ll want to take a really close look at your solo you’ve chosen for study to examine where you are wasting effort - either by tensing up too much or by sloppy movements. Work each passage, even if it is two or three notes, to reduce your movement of your fingers and your hands to the bare minimum. Pay close attention to when you’re pressing too hard on a string or if you notice that your left hand is tense.

What I always love to see are close up films of great players and they always make it look so easy! That is because they seem to waste no movement whatsoever - they only do the absolute minimum of what is required. A really great player’s left hand will look quiet, like it’s hardly working, yet if you get an opportunity to see, they are playing amazing stuff and you can hear all the notes, but it looks like it is so easy for them. For me, it’s usually about stripping away unnecessary effort, movement and tension. I’ve been playing for 35 plus years and I think this is a life-long endeavor to clean up my technique.

If I have a difficult passage to learn, I will break it down to the smallest pieces where I find that I’m stumbling consistently. Work those small sections over and over and then try to approach them from the phrase before and then play through them until I am able to stitch the whole part together and play it all the way through.

There is no substitute for doing the background work. Know what key you’re playing in, know forwards and backwards what notes are in that key, and know what “accidentals” or chromatic notes that are not part of the key that are included in this solo. Time invested in playing scales and knowing the notes in any given key is essential. It is akin to learning your A-B-C’s. You can’t write a novel without first having a firm grasp on the language and all it’s component parts and neither can you be a great musician and soloist if you don’t learn all the basics and drill them into your playing technique. So, work your scales diligently!
