Best learn to play the guitar book and easy to understand?

Best learn to play the guitar book and easy to understand? I’ve gone way past the beginner stuff, and can’t find any more free stuff online. I’m looking for a book that is mainly about improvising.
My inspiration is matthew bellamy from muse if that helps…

Have a look at the MelBay web site. There is a great selection and some pretty good guidance.

play guitar notes chords
Accostic guitar - is it just for playing chords or can you play notes as well?

I have an accoustic guitar and I love it to bits but would like to know if this shape/size of guitar is just for mainly playing chords. The classical guitar is a bit smaller to hold and is good for playing actual notes on. I want to play chords AND notes (not at same time, am too bad!!) but was just wondering if I should then stick to my accoustic guitar or buy a classical guitar??!! Thanks xxxxx

Accoustic guitars were here before electric (solid body) so yes you can play notes on them. I know A lot of players who can entire shred on one. Sounds silly I know.
It all depends on the style you want to play. Generallyacousticss are lessversatilee than electrics as the strings are higher from the fret board (Action) and the strings are thicker as most are made out of a different material.
Classic guitars have nylon strings so the action on those are even higher but are moreFlexible than regular acoustics.
As i said just depends on your style.

learning to play guitar notes
Question about learning how to play the guitar? (notes and chords)?

I got the guitar for Christmas and I have hardly anytime to play it.
Because I have school, homework and friends that come first. Idk.
I really want to learn how to play it. I learned a couple notes but I pretty much forgot them.. it’s been like a month?
and anyway I was wondering if I could just skip right to learning how to play the chords or should I learn how to play all the notes/strings first?

Francesca,

The answer depends on how frustrated you want to get. If you want to be world class and intend to deliberately practice for 8-10 hours per day, then definitely start learning notes and the hard stuff right off.

If you want to have FUN? then start with the chords. I’ll even lay out the specific technique you can use to be playing songs in no time:
1. First make a short list of your favorite pop/rock (or any genre) songs. Maybe 10.
2. Look up chords for these on the web.
3. Pick out the one with the fewest number of chords
4. Look up those chords and learn how to finger them
5. Play that song every day for a week or two, and you’ll KNOW those chords by heart.
6. Rinse and Repeat

That will get you started and keep you occupied for months.

Just have fun I say - at least to start.
John

learn how to play guitar left handed

learn how to play guitar left handed
Can you learn guitar left handed, even if you only have a right-handed guitar?

I want to learn how to play guitar, holding it the normal way feels weird and left is better. But do I need to buy a left handed learn guitar book? I only have a right handed guitar. I’m confused! Any help is welcome. X

Restringing a right handed guitar for a left handed player spells disaster. You would need to flip the nut and the saddle, but the saddle is never exactly perpendicular to the strings to improve intonation, so when flipped the intonation will be simply awful. Acoustic guitars are braced asymmetrically since the bass strings exert more tension than the treble strings; switch the strings and eventually you’ll warp the top of the guitar.

On electric guitars, the cutaway, knobs, output jack, and switches will all be in the wrong place and very uncomfortable to get to.

If you insist on playing left handed, get a left handed guitar. On the other hand, many lefties choose to learn to play right handed and it’s a smart thing to do. Each hand has an important task to do and if anything fretting is the more challenging task. You would be doing that with your dominant hand, a distinct advantage.

Good luck.

how do i play guitar and harmonica at the same time ?

i kind of already play the guitar, i would like to play a song with both the guitar and harmonica (bob dylan’s blowin’ in the wind, in particular)

but don’t know where to start any help ?

well. it is very hard. it would be easier f you had 3 hands, because you have to hold the guitar with 2 hands and the harmonica with one. but go to Youtube and find a video

how to play guitar jazz chords

how to play guitar jazz chords
I want to know how to play jazz guitar?

I know the jazz chords but i want to know how to just like make up a jazz song. I would also like the half steps or whole steps invovled while trying to make a jazz guitar solo.

Listen to a lot of jazz. It will help you get to know different styles. As for the half and whole step issue I could give you a crash course but you will benefit more from getting a book on the subject. Try Patterns Scales and Modes for Jazz Guitar by Arnie Berle. It will answer your questions if you have the patience for it. A little bit of patience will save you a lot of heart ache.
