I lost my zeal to play music (my guitar and keyboard) how do I get my zeal back for performing music?
I have been playing guitar since 12 and keyboards since 17. I am experienced in studio work, have written songs that appeared on other peoples projects and have performed live.
Watch something for some inspiration.. or maybe even just take a break from playing.
Guitar Envy #1: How to play “guitar” on piano/keyboard
How long will it take me to learn Piano or Keyboard (already play guitar)?
I already play guitar well and understand theroy/chord construcion. I am not trying to be great or anything…just good enough to play pop and rock songs. I’ll eventually switch off between playing guitar and keys when I play live. I thinking of getting a keyboard with built in lessons. I’ll probaly put in an hour a day.
Thanks in advance
How long before I can play halfway decent.
As long as you have a good concept of theory it’s only a matter of practice. Beautiful thing about the piano: you can see what you’re doing. Put in a solid hour a day and you’ll be somewhat competent in a month.
How to play Daft Punk’s Aerodynamic guitar part on keyboard
is it easier to teach yourself to play the guitar or keyboard/piano?
i know a lot of people who teach themselves to play the guitar using online lessons or books or both. can you do the same thing to learn to play the piano/keyboard… or do you need formal training?
in people’s opinion, what’s more difficult to learn to play… the guitar or piano/keyboard?
thanks!
Hey there!!
I used to learn the piano when i was a kid. And when my teacher got married and moved away, I started self-learning the guitar. After a year i got formal guitar lessons. In my opinion, learning the guitar by yourself is easier.
Yes you’re right. People can can books and stuff for guitar. It’s really easy. I’ve tried looking up piano lessons online for free and there isnt much.
Piano is a harder instrument to self-learn because you need to know the positions and you really need someone to be there explaining then to you where as the guitar you can just get chord charts and it tells you the fingering and everything!
Hey Everybody,
I got a little problem on my guitar.
I have been practicing guitar for 8 months and have gotten super technically and musically advanced. I also wanted to play keyboard, and then I found this book online.
http://www.sinerj.org/~loyer/PianoBook/piano-practice-a4-10pt.pdf.
It has a load of great tips. Does any one know any tips like in the keyboard book to apply to guitar.
PS- This book says it can make you play piano 1000 times faster than standard, if anyone used it let me know if it works.
Also I badly want to play like Joe Satriani or Steve Vai please post any exercises from them!!
1st Answer-
Nice response, mostly this question is just asking for good habit tips before I start my long practice routine. I have a lot of learning gear like metronomes, and speed sure can help.
make sure you break it into smaller amounts of time e.g 10 minutes of good practise is better than an hour of “bad”
