“i seen ppl on youtube say after 1 week play and they own”

for me that’s complete bs
don’t EVER believe random youtube stuff
and don’t EVER compare yourself with others
after all we are all different peoples and we advance at different rhythms

Don’t worry
I think you are doing great
you’re only starting
so try to crawl and walk first before trying to run
EVERYBODY and i mean EVERYBODY (including myself) messes up a lot when they start at the point in which some of them think they suck
and after that you still mess up
but that “omg i suck” thing just goes away

I will only tell you
just keep going
keep practicing (don’t overpractice though, 30 - 60 mins a day or several whiles a day is okay)
don’t give up
don’t STOP playing even though your fingers plea for mercy
one day you will look at yourself and say

Wow and I thought I sucked back when I started

that’s my life philosophy
even when things go bad
DON’T GIVE UP
THERE’S ALWAYS A TOMORROW
BE A WARRIOR
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH
*runs away as if going to a battle*

learn to play guitar notes
what is a good book to learn to play guitar?

i want to learn guitar so bad….but i can’t read notes

i took 4th grade violin lessons for a year but they only taught us with letters

whats a good book to learn to read notes, tune a guitar and play?

Your best option to learn to play guitar, learn basic music theory, and play by notation is by getting Hal Leonard’s Beginner Guitar Method Book One at your local music store. It costs about $6.50, and with a CD, about $7.50.

Also, pick up a chord book that lists at least 2,500 chords and their accompanying music notation written chords.

play guitar zero online
Learning to play Guitar?

I want to learn to play the guitar but I have zero musical experience and in fact probably the equivalent of challenged when it comes to music. Where do I start? What kind of guitar should I get and should I teach myself by reading online or should I pay for a teacher. I really have no idea where to begin.

its expensive but get a teacher. don’t be afraid to change and find one who you get along with they should be your friend aswel. get a guitar suited to the style you want. electric i would advise a cheap stratocaster acoustic i would advise the make falcon. start on a cheap guitar then as you get better buy a more expensive one. and finally just practice practice PRACTICE.

play guitar on keyboard
I lost my zeal to play music (my guitar and keyboard) how do I get my zeal back for performing music?

I have been playing guitar since 12 and keyboards since 17. I am experienced in studio work, have written songs that appeared on other peoples projects and have performed live.

Watch something for some inspiration.. or maybe even just take a break from playing.

play guitar fast

play guitar fast
How can I play the guitar fast with my fingers?

Does anyone know what technique I would use to play the guitar quickly with my fingers? I would like to play those “fast” songs like Cliffs of Dover, etc. on my guitar, but don’t like the sound of the pick, so I want to learn to play fast with my fingers. What kind of technique would I use?

well, u could simply go up and down the guitar, starting on the low E, playing 1234, as in, ur 1st finger on the 1st fret, 2nd on the 2nd, and so on, then go down string by string till u get to the high E, then, u SHIFT to the right one, so when u play 1234, ur 1st finger is on the 2nd fret, then u go back all up, then shift and continue, go all the way to the very last fret on ur guitar and keeping on increasing ur pace when u feel like u’ve got the hang of it, its a but tedious, but its a great work out. if u want something more interesting, then learn the scales and do the same thing, go up….then all the way down again. being able to play those songs takes LOTS of practice, so don;t be discouraged if u feel like ur too slow, just PRACTICE! good luck! :]

p.s i forgot to add, in my opinion, i think u should stay with the pick, as most metal songs if not all, are by picking, finger picking is only for classical music, flamengo, etc. just stick with the pick! at first, i played with my fingers, then someone said i should try playing with a pick, at first, i found it hard and awkward, but in the long run, it was better for me and i found to prefer it a lot more than finger picking, so keep on picking!

play guitar notes chords
Accostic guitar - is it just for playing chords or can you play notes as well?

I have an accoustic guitar and I love it to bits but would like to know if this shape/size of guitar is just for mainly playing chords. The classical guitar is a bit smaller to hold and is good for playing actual notes on. I want to play chords AND notes (not at same time, am too bad!!) but was just wondering if I should then stick to my accoustic guitar or buy a classical guitar??!! Thanks xxxxx

Accoustic guitars were here before electric (solid body) so yes you can play notes on them. I know A lot of players who can entire shred on one. Sounds silly I know.
It all depends on the style you want to play. Generallyacousticss are lessversatilee than electrics as the strings are higher from the fret board (Action) and the strings are thicker as most are made out of a different material.
Classic guitars have nylon strings so the action on those are even higher but are moreFlexible than regular acoustics.
As i said just depends on your style.

how to play guitar vibrato

how to play guitar vibrato
How to play Vibrato on guitar?

Ok so I am self-taught and I have watched a couple vids on using it but I’m not entirely sure how to do the whole finger thing. My wrist just won’t coordinate with my movements. Can someone explain how to play a vibrato? Thank you! ☺

There are two types of finger vibrato. The first one is most commonly done on classical guitars and is done the way you see violin players get vibrato, by strongly rocking your finger back and forth(right/left) in the direction of the neck. This causes that gentle, mellow vibrato that makes violins sound so nice. B.B.King does vibrato that way.

The other way, mostly on electric guitar is a wrist vibrato which causes your fingertip to bend the string up and down in pitch.

It’s not an easy thing to master. It takes a bit of hand and finger strength to get your finger stiff enough to hold still while yourotate your wrist about.

One thing to try that might make it easier for you to get the technique down would be to get lighter gauge strings for your guitar, so it will be easier to perform the string bending maneuver until you get it down, then once are good at it, you can go back to the thicker strings.
This is really important if you are trying it on a steel string acoustic.
They can be a real pain to try to do string bends on. I had a Fender acoustic that was so stiff that it was almost impossible to do a string bend at all, even with lighter strings. I didn’t have that guitar long, believe me!

Other than that, it’ll just take time and practice. I’ve always had tiny fingers, and I’m not real musclebound, so it was a real problem for me to get a good vibrato. I finally have a halfway OK one, but not a good one like Stevie Ray Vaughn had. I made up for it by mastering the gentle use of the tremolo arm on my Stratocaster to get a good vibrato, instead dive bombing with it like the metal guys like to do. (Although, I occasionally like to put a good hard whammy on it like any good rock n roll player !!!)

hope that sheds a little light on the subject for you. It is rather hard to describe exactly how it’s done.

how to play guitar jason mraz
Can a person with no guitar experience play I’m Yours by Jason Mraz?

Basically, I’ve never played guitar before but after hearing the song I’m Yours by Jason Mraz I really wanted to learn how to play it. Is it possible for someone like me to learn it just straight on without any experience? As in, would it take a long time to learn the piece if i didn’t start with the basics or is it an easier piece than most?

It’s extremely hard to pick up gutair in my opinion and the way you learn something is practicing it over and over. So if you saw a tutorial on youtube let me find one here’s one:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGOTyV8tRhs just practice it over and over and you will learn how to play it without having to know gutair.

play guitar standing

play guitar standing
How can I make it easier for me to play guitar while standing up?

I find it so much easier to play guitar when I’m sitting down, but when I’m standing it becomes so much harder.

When you sit and play, are you by chance looking at your left hand while you play? If you have been doing that, then you are having difficulty watching your hand when you stand, which is probably why you are struggling. It just takes lots of practice to get used to not watching yourself as you play. Keep at it, you will get there.

learning to play guitar notes
Question about learning how to play the guitar? (notes and chords)?

I got the guitar for Christmas and I have hardly anytime to play it.
Because I have school, homework and friends that come first. Idk.
I really want to learn how to play it. I learned a couple notes but I pretty much forgot them.. it’s been like a month?
and anyway I was wondering if I could just skip right to learning how to play the chords or should I learn how to play all the notes/strings first?

Francesca,

The answer depends on how frustrated you want to get. If you want to be world class and intend to deliberately practice for 8-10 hours per day, then definitely start learning notes and the hard stuff right off.

If you want to have FUN? then start with the chords. I’ll even lay out the specific technique you can use to be playing songs in no time:
1. First make a short list of your favorite pop/rock (or any genre) songs. Maybe 10.
2. Look up chords for these on the web.
3. Pick out the one with the fewest number of chords
4. Look up those chords and learn how to finger them
5. Play that song every day for a week or two, and you’ll KNOW those chords by heart.
6. Rinse and Repeat

That will get you started and keep you occupied for months.

Just have fun I say - at least to start.
John
